METS Phillied up problems
the NY METS season has come to a reality stand point.
As painful as it's been to watch the season unfold the way it has, nothing stands worse for Mets fans than falling consistently at the hands of the Phillies.
Mets lose another 9-4 and have slid far away from that great .500 potential and possible wild card race. That's all way forgotten about. They'll also want to forget about their almost 18 inning scoreless streak that they snapped in the 7th inning on an RBI from Justin Turner, the longest drought for the Mets this year.
NY has really struggled against Philly losing 7 of their last 8 series in Philadelphia. That's what happens when you face a dominant team that seems to get everything right, but especially when you're in town.
Pelfrey (6-10) will try and stop the bleeding against Kendrick (7-5) in a daytime matchup on Wednesday.
Good luck Mets....as I'm ready to wrap up this season!

METS Dance of Mediocrity
It's really really difficult to get mad at the METS this season for some reason?
As they have flirted all year with .500 and melodic mediocrity, the Mets lose another game they should have won. But for some reason, we're giving them a pass this year. Is it because of the Injuries? or our 1st year manager? or the ownership issues involving finances??
Whatever it is we as Mets fans are embracing the good of what this team can bring us right now somehow with less expectations for this year.
For the Florida game it came down to when the mets Leading 4-3 in the 8th Bobby Parnell showed up and just gave the game to the Marlins when Morrison blasted his 15th HR to lead off the inning. they won when Buck struck luck late knocking in Stanton as Mets lose 5-4. And this was Parnell in his preferred setup role, but even that has proven difficult for him lately.
Too bad because there were so many other great things that happened in the game like the quick emergence of David Wright back from injury hit his 1st home run (7th overall) since returning.
We also saw some clutch hitting by Beltran and Turner, plus the always exciting performance of Jose Reyes.
So the Mets sit 1 game under at 50-51.

METS EXPLOSION!!
The New York Mets have been on a tear lately!
As they were surging towards a .500 record the offense has clicked for 14+ runs in 3 of the last 4 games!
Mets taking apart the Detroit Tigers in the last 2 games.
Grand slams, triples and major hitting production, as Jose Reyes leads a Mets attack of Bay, Murphy, Hairston and Turner putting a huge smile on the faces of all NY fans.
Reyes has had his game come together completely this season.
Everything that he was ever projected to do he has done, but just emphasized greatly this season...um under his contract year.
As Reyes just recently played in his 1000th MLB game his numbers as far as combined Hits, stolen bases, Triples, doubles, on base percentage, walks, and average are 2nd only to The great Ty Cobb.
Mets organization has no choice but to resign him, unless insanity kicks in from the overlap of the Madoff effect on Mets majority ownership.
Let's enjoy the good times mets fans!
Huge test tomorrow as NY sends Pelfrey(4-6) to the mound to face the AL Best Verlander (10-3)
Competition is good. Mets achievement is well noted.

Mets coming to life!
The Mets are on a little power roll winning 3 in a row.
On Sunday David Wright was at the center of it on offense hitting 2 home Runs, and three in the last 3 games giving him five for the season.
Also recently called up rookie Jason Pridie got his 1st Major league hit Saturday then got his 1st major league home run Sunday!
A 3 run shot in third off Dbacks undefeated starter Galaraga helped the Mets win 8-4.
Jonathon Niese got his 1st win of the season, and the Mets have signs of life winning their homestand 4-2.
On to Washington to play the Nationals.

Mets Good Intentions
It's been an Interesting start for the Mets through 9 games this season.
They began 3-1, but have fallen into what I think everyone would have expected at this point, something Mediocre. And it's because we don't know what to really expect?
They got a great outing from Free agent signing Chris Young who I think will be huge all season for the Mets. The same can't be said about the comeback of Jason Isringhausen.
NYM lost today and the series in 11 Innings 7-3 to the Nationals.
Better days should be ahead, but bottom line is all the young dudes must produce.
Ike Davis, David Wright, Reyes, Thole, Murphy, and a healthy Jason Bay ready to show the pop and dexterity he displayed in his few years with the Red Sox.
I know it was a crazy off season, and so much up in the air under the new Management of Terry Collins, but let's give it a fair optimistic shot that these guys can do it.
Mets fans unite!!

Going Back To The Start
The New York Mets are right back where they started. Dead even at .500 after 146 games played. Right smack in the middle of mediocrity.
They somehow stayed afloat of that mark winning 3 in a row from the glorified AAA Team Pittsburgh Pirates. Mets win Wednesday night in a whirlwind 8-7 after watching starter Jenrry Mejia leave the game early in the 2nd with an injury. A mop up job was done by the rest of the crew as Raul Valdes ended up with the rare win occasion.
Angel Pagan continues to play at a high level along with the spark and never ending potential of Jose Reyes who drove out his 10th home run of the season.
The Mets will play out the string looking closely at what can be done.

I DON'T think a major overhaul is necessary.
Obviously the likes of Jason Bay, Beltran, Reyes, Wright and Davis all need to be playing together healthy and then perform to their potential.
Pitching needs big time tweaking. 2 starter and a new closer would be nice.
Assuming Santana is healthy along with an experienced Niese and Pelfey.

Change in Imminent but the core players can be kept in tact and the chemistry can build from there.
These games are meaningless at this point except to evaluate. But then who's really doing the evaluating??
Mets go for the 4 game sweep of the Pirates today.

DICKEY FINDS SOLIDARITY
The Mets won Sunday behind the leadership performance of R.A. Dickey, as He stymied the Astros winning 5-1 giving up 6 hits in 7 strong Inning's and extending his record to 9-5.
Dickey seems to use his brains alongside his flustering knuckleball pitch. He's become the Mets biggest surprise on the mound this season. Another surprise has come from the bat of the present/future catcher in NY, Josh Thole. He cracked his 2nd homer in a Mets uniform along with his .307 batting average and his outstanding defense behind the plate.
Mets are at .500 again, and this is what they are! This is the team this year...but it's not all bad, and there's things to build on here. Mets need to be patient and strategic, and the only thing that encourages that, is the play that we saw on the field Sunday.
Mets challenge is facing the Braves this week as they try and knock Atlanta off their Pennant driving perch.

METS MULTITUDE OF MEDIOCRITY
The New York Mets can't help but to hold on in this state of middle of the road play.
That's the season, and that's the team.
Jonathon Niese was off to a great start Thursday night and the Mets offense was cruising along up 4-0 when the walls caved in. Niese drops to 8-6.
David Wright was on the fast track early in this game cracking his 21st of the year, but in the 4th Niese started to crumble when Hanley Ramirez hit a 2 run homer (17) that ignited the Fish.
It rolled over from there as the Mets got squashed 11-4.
A 7 run 6th Inning punctured the picture for NY.
Pelfrey goes for his 13th win Friday night and will try to get the METS back to .500 for the season.
Marlins looking to solidify 3rd place in the division and just leave it at that.
Mets .500 finish should fall in with the mediocrity set before them.

METS MUSE
The Mets humbly won a game Monday night in Houston against the Astros 3-1, off what was scored a wild pitch by closer Matt Lindstrom in the 9th Inning.
Carlos Beltran has started to come around with his swing as he struck a 4th Inning Home Run off Wandy Rodriguez. The Astros would tie it in the 6th but that would be it.
Beltran would figure in the win off a Triple by Francouer in the 9th, and Takahashi would close it for his 3rd save. Maybe a new role for Takahashi?
The Mets will be needing a closer after the meltdown incident with the Frankie Rodriguez and his father in law, plus Rodriguez revealed a ligament tear in his thumb that will sideline him for the rest of the season, and probably his career with the Mets.
I got to tell you I've been tired of this guy for a long time. He's a no grateful punk!
I actually though he left all his best stuff behind him in Anaheim, and when the Mets signed him I felt he was overrated at the time. he's really been inconsistent and unreliable over his time in NY.
Now he'll have a lot of time to think about it. That stupid move in the clubhouse cost him millions of dollars, and possible a good standing in his career anywhere in baseball.
Just a dumb bonehead move bu a not so intelligent athlete who can only throw a Baseball well....and lately hasn't done that either.
Jonathon Niese can't seem to get a break having pitched into the 7th Inning 3 straight games, giving up only 1 run in each doing the job.
Mets pitching has been phenomenal giving up only 8 runs in 64 innings.
Niese's 3rd straight 1 run game is well noted by Mets Organization for his steady pitching strategy.

METS BACK TO SHUTOUT
The METS got an old reliable win Thursday afternoon at Citi Field when Johan Santana picked up his 10th win of the season cruising to a 4-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies and helping NY win the series.
This all amongst the outlandish behavior displayed by a disgruntled Frankie Rodriguez who obviously took out his frustrations of 2 bad years of "closing" on his father in law, who probably was only defending his daughter against some dumb ass thing frankie probably said or did in the first place?
Of course I wasn't there, but that seems to be his personality and disposition. Tired of him actually and hope he's not on the team next year.
Anyway back to the game Santana pitched a complete game 4 hit shutout with 10 strike outs! Those are huge leadership numbers. Hopefully that will carry the Mets next season 1st out of the gate. In the meantime Carlos Beltran finally had a day going 3 for 3 with an RBI. Pagan also batted in his 53rd run of the season and the Mets cruised early with David Wright taking a rest. His replacement hessman went 0-4. The rest however was all good, as the Mets continue to play well overall at home this season.
Santana now 10-6 beats out Hammels (8-7) for the Rockies, who are fading away in the west.
Mets now have one of those monstrous demon like series with the Phillies as they'll face the other hamel in the league in Cole Hamels (no relation) and his 7-8 record will face the ever dynamic R.A DICKEY. (7-5)
Mets need to win this game friday night to have the crowd support over the weekend.
With all the Philly injuries I like the Mets chances in the series. However with the Phils pounding the mets the last several years, and seeming to have their number this year as well, then you just don't know.

METS FUNK
The METS are in a funk of a way of life in Baseball. Difficult to figure out?
The fact is that the Mets lost to the Rockies Wednesday night 6-2.
It was a frustrating game because they got off to a great start when Mr. Amazing Met Angel Pagan hit a 2 run homer off Jeff Francis in the 1st, and Jonathon Niese pitched a gem through 7 Innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 7. They couldn't finish it as it all came apart in the 8th. And it was discussed that the Mets could not keep depending on pitching gems to keep them in ballgames being there last 2 wins were 1-0 victories. The bottom fell out in the 8th when a grand slam was applied by former Met Melvin Mora cranked one off Manny Acosta. Mets 2-0 steam was gone and reality set in.
They could not capitalize off the Pelfrey win the night before, and take a game they should have won last night.
Mets can still win this home series with a Santana victory Thursday morning against Hammel and the Rockies.
Tough loss when it all seemed under control. Isn't that the the story here?
Mets have not had that control this year. It's a tall task but we'll keep fighting and supporting.

METS SHORTCOMINGS
The New York Mets have just fallen short this weekend and most of the season for that matter, but now it really counts down the wire.
In Philadelphia against their greatest nemesis the Phillies, NYM did not put up a great showing. The task was big Sunday going with R.A. Dickey against Ace Roy Halladay.
Mets lost 6-5 and really let one slip away. Dickey for the first time this season as a Mets starter could not reach the fifth Inning. After he was spotted a 2-0 lead off of back to back hits by Pagan and Ike Davis, it all came apart in the 3rd...and by the time it was over Mets were trailing 6-2 supported by a 3 run homer by Raul Ibanez.
Halladay gave up 5 runs in the end making it close for New York, but he K'd 10 Mets and got a sealant from Lidge in the pen to cap the Phils 6th win in 7 outings.
Halladay has won 4 straight starts extending to 14-8 while Dickey drops down to 7-5.
Phillies win the series and remain 2 games back of the Braves while the METS are a distant 9 games out, and return home to play the Rockies with Pelfrey trying to find his way towards success again. If he is to find it, he'll have to keep up with Rockies Phenom All Star Jiminez (17-2).
Good luck Mets. We'll all need it.

METS MISERY
METS lose the series to the Braves. Pelfrey gets pulverized again.
but Please....LISTEN UP...METS FANS!!
I can't support a fan page representing "the frustrated Mets fan" ?
You people need to get your heads on straight and get back to reality??
If you recall the Mets have won World Championships. In recent years they've been competitive till the end, despite the negative results. But have you checked the CUBS, GIANTS, ASTROS, BREWERS, ?
You can't win every year!! This team today has some exciting parts that make the future look bright. It's not perfect but the team should not panic, and just build on this dynamic for next season. Let's ride it out but positively and optimistically ...not with venom and disgust??
It's Baseball people! put it into perspective, and enjoy the stretch run.

METS DESPERATION
The New York Mets were desperate for a win and got one against division leading Atlanta 3-2 off a Jeff Francoeur solo home run in the 9th delivered by Former Met Closer Billy Wagner.
It was ever so special for Francoeur being a Georgia native and having played for the Braves, this was an all around joyous occasion for him. One that he shared quite emphatically with his teammates who waited for him with great pride and passion.
Jeff had been in a terrible slump, and this was a great way to break that.
Also for the Mets they were facing an almost 9 game deficit with a loss, instead R.A. Dickey pitched a solid 6 Innings giving up the 2 runs, and Acosta finished it when needed while saved by frankie, NY is now only 6.5 games out and can close that tighter with a huge victory Wednesday against the Braves in the rubber match.
Mike Pelfrey has been a disappointment, but can redeem a great value with a series win over Atlanta. Medlen (6-2) goes for the Braves.
Do the Mets have one last breath?
I didn't think so....it would be great to be wrong on this one and see this team rally and shine. However the more realistic approach seemed to be to trade some desire players (Santana , Castillo) and get some top prospects to tweak the few missing pieces right now. I also believe there needs to be a new regime to do that.
We'll see what happens, but the Mets have the ability and can make it an exciting finish.

METS NOT NIESE
The Mets are just horribly inconsistent after getting bombed at home Sunday against the lowly but effective Mets killers Arizona Diamondbacks 14-1.
Jonathon Niese just did not have it and falls to 7-5 on the season.
The Mets are in such mediocrity now that I think it would have been best to just trade some key vets to help bolster for next year. Let's trade for some young arms?
Something needs to be done, but this race will not involve the Mets short of a blazing miracle. Maybe someone needs a closer and will sucker up to take Frankie Rodriguez away, or even let Feliciano or infielder Castillo go in a trade?
Mets need to wake up to reality. I guess Omar and Jerry are realizing their fate.

METS WIN AT HOME
The New York Mets have found comfort at home this year after the nightmare abyss they appeared in out west. At home in Citi Field the Mets took 2 of 3 from the St. Louis Cardinals.
R.A. Dickey has overcome many adversities in his playing career.
With a freak elbow that shouldn't even allow him to throw a Baseball, he proved his abilities to be in the big leagues but still bounced around to 4 different teams over the last 5 years before becoming a blessing in disguise for NY. Now with his Knuckleballer going strong he's pitched himself into a leadership position on the club this year.
On Thursday Dickey shutout the cardinals 4-0 going 8 Inning giving up only 4 hits and 2 walk, extending his record to 7-4. The offense came by way of rookie sensation Ike Davis who is every bit a part of the Imagination and strong potential that we see in the mets and our hopes for them, hit a 3 run shot , his 15th of the season in the 4rd Inning off Hawksworth. Beltran capped an extra run in the 5th scoring Angel Pagan.
Pagan in my mind has been the most surprising sparkplug, clutch player this season. He has really surprised me with his gritty play and poised attitude. His value keeps going up as he makes huge plays every night it seems.
Mets are now feeling their pulse and comfortable at home ready to take on a new series against Arizona where a little payback is on their minds as well after being swept by the Dbacks during the recent nightmare run.
Pelfrey (10-5) will try home field to get on track against Kennedy (5-8) for Arizona.

METS NIGHTMARE ENDS
The New York Mets nightmare ends on this road trip that opened the 2nd half of the 2010 MLB season, only because they're going home and will have a day off Monday to ponder many things.
The Mets lost the last game of the trip 1-0 to the Dodgers. The 4th shutout of NYM on this 11 game set!! R.A. Dickey pitched a gem striking out 6 in 5 Innings giving up only 2 hits, but the Mets bats could not help him out. Kershaw pitched equally as strong for the Dodgers going 8 Innings 0 runs on 7 hits. LA won it in the 8th on a double by Russell Martin scoring Casey Blake. Dodgers obviously were the team that answered the bell on this series. Mets finished 2-9 and look nothing like the team that showed spark, magic and potential at earlier times this season. Not always... but there were moments whether it was bringing up Ike Davis, or the early good start by Pelfrey, or the resurgence of David Wright.
There was a lot of positive things happening in the Mets world as they were viewed as overachievers. Now they come home really beat up and directionless.
However the season is not over. METS are 7.5 games out running closely with the Phillies and the Marlins chasing the Braves.
NY needs to focus deeply, take it one game at a time and put the bad stuff behind them. Unfortunately they have powerhouse Pujols and St. Louis Cardinals coming in for a series on Tuesday.
Niese (6-4) will try and get it going for NY against Garcia (9-4) of the Cardinals.
Deep breathe and eyes forward everyone. let's be present.
Go Mets!

METS MISERY
For the New York Mets it's like an old bad song, or a nightmare that doesn't seem to go away. That would possibly describe the Mets road trip to start the 2nd half of the season.
The misery set in tonight resting in the 1th Inning when the D'backs got the job done to sweep NY.
That's 1-6 for NYM heading into LA to play the Dodgers. and the only reason why the Mets are in 2nd place holding a 1/2 game lead over Philly and Florida is because those teams have just not played well either.
Jonathon Niese pitched a decent ballgame getting out of some jams, but got tagged on 3 mistakes. 3 solo home runs by Chris Young, Ryan Ryal and Mark Reynolds for Arizona.
Mets hung tough with Barajas homer in the 8th to tie it at 3.
Angel Pagan continued his incredible season homering in the 1st and then scoring off Carlos Beltrans 1st RBI of the year.
The fact that Nieve gave up the winning hit in the 14th to Snyder was disappointing, but there's still hope and games to salvage.
Despite their win last night the Dodgers have been in dissaray and the Mets need to capitalize on that.
Mets suffering but have 1 last gasp.
To live or die in LA.

PELFREY PULVARIZED
The NYM hearts were broken Monday night when Mike Pelfrey absolutely got shallacked in the 1st Inning not allowing his teammates a chance to compete in the game the shortest outing of his career.
Mets lost 13-2. Pelfrey gave up 6 runs on 7 hits in an Inning and 1/3rd.
It's starting to look like I'm eating crow on my earlier support of Pelfrey.
When he arrived at his splendid 9-1 start and low ERA. I was calling out Pelfrey for the All Star Team!! and was disappointed when he didn't get selected. Well Pelfrey is proving everyone right for not selecting him after going 1-4 with a 9.11 ERA after that splendid start. I thought tonight Mike would establish himself and set the tone for the clubs 2nd half journey? He didn't put up much fight with those numbers as Mark Reynolds schooled him with a huge triple as he finished with 4 RBI's. Ian Kennedy pitched a great game cleaning up his record to 5-7. Dbacks looking for a 2nd half
surge while Mets might be declared lost out west somewhere in a marine layer fog or something....but truly it's clear skies these days. Mets are just a step slow and on the road blues. bad time to be singing.

METS SALVAGE NOCAL
The New york Mets did not kick off the 2nd half of the season the way they envisioned.
Losing 3 out of 4 to the Giants was not in their plans but winning on Sunday to avoid a 4 game sweep was crucial. That's the part the Mets have avoided mainly this season, but they can't resolve to that either. They must respond for the rest of this trip.
Winning Sunday 4-3 in 10 Innings was stressful enough due to another insignificant outing by Frankie Rodriquez. I mean this guy can't cleanly close out a game to save his life anymore! I knew his best years were way behind him ending with his last season in Anaheim. He's patched it together for the 1st year or so, but it's all catching up with Rodriguez now. All the inconsistencies and lack of velocity on that very strenuous pitching motion. Luckily rookie sensation Ike Davis did the saving for the Mets in the 10th doubling deep to center and easily scoring Jason Bay. Davis has been so huge and poised in big spots. He sure has elevated David Wright's play, who cracked his 15th Homer of the season in the 4th.
It was all almost ruined starting with the wasted strong outing by Johan Santana, who pitched 8 Innings, giving up 8 hits but allowing only 1 run.
It's now time to shake this series off and prepare to take advantage of a golden opportunity to beat a team you should beat, as NYM head into Arizona to face the D'backs staring with Pelfrey at 10-4 looking to re-establish his earlier season dominance against Ian Kennedy (4-7).
Mets neck and neck with Philly 5 games off the Braves pace.
Key time of year folks, bug games right here right now!
Go Mets Go!

LUCK NOT WITH DICKEY
The New York Mets came out of the All star break ready to face an All star in San Francisco by the name of Tim Lincecum. The 2 time National League Cy Young award winner. Lincecum was sharp and ready to face NY after being held out of the All star game enabling him to get the start as he pitched the 2-0 shutout. Tim had lost 3 of his last 4 starts against the Mets, but last night he dominated, and scattered 6 hits to improve his record to 10-4. R.A. Dickey pitched equally well for the most part but gave up a huge double to Sandoval that proved to be all the Giants needed.
Dickey has lost his last 3 starts. despite going 7 strong giving up only 1 run on 5 hits.
Dessens gave up the 1 security run.
So this was not the welcome back the Mets wanted for Carlos Beltran who returned to the lineup and went 1 for 4.
Mets need to shake this off understanding they were facing such a crafty pitcher, and come out on Friday and face Barry Zito (7-4) for San Fran against Niese (6-3) for the Mets.
RATTLE AND HUM METS.....Time to strike is now!

SANTANA IN TUNE AT BREAK
Johan Santana is officially back in class A form.
New York Mets sure have learned this year how shake off bad loses, show great resilience and reverse their fortune. They avoided a sweep at the hands of the Braves winning 3-0.
This team has shown fight and that touch of magic necessary to get ahead.
The Mets have had more than their share of big moments in big spots this year.
Sunday Johan Santana did it again out to prove that his recent woes were a fluke.
He went 7 strong giving up 5 hits but also striking out 5. Santana's record now Improves to 7-5, and he's always put up big numbers in the 2nd half of seasons.
With Beltran coming back and Santana getting hot, all they'll need is Pelfrey to get back on track and the team should do some damage.
Ike Davis has continued his poise and played very well crushing another homer, his 11th in the 6th off Derek Lowe.
Angel Pagan picked up his pace again going 3 for 5, while Parnell and Frankie came into close the deal on this Braves series.
Mets go into the break 48-40, keeping 4 games behind Atlanta.
Mets will gear up out west on Thursday to pick it up again and get a good start in the 2nd half against the Giants.
Till then relax and enjoy the break, but let's come back focused ready to take the division!

SANTANA BACK IN FORM
The New York Mets sure have learned this year how shake off bad loses, show great resilience and reverse their fortune.
This team has shown fight and that touch of magic necessary to get ahead.
The Mets have had more than their share of big moments in big spots this year.
Sunday Johan Santana did it again out to prove that his recent woes were a fluke and that he was ready to reclaim his #1 pitching role. Although he lost his last start, he pitched well holding the Nationals to 1 run in 7 Innings.
Santana ended up proving that big time, pitching a complete game 3 hitter, striking out 5. The Mets win 3-0 beating the Reds and put themselves in another situation to win a series. Johan not only was incredible with his arm but he also hit his 1st career home run after 162 attempts.
It ended up being the winning run for the game.
Jason Bay added a 2 run single in the 6th.
tonight's game is a hot pitching matchup with Jonathon Niese (6-2) going against an equally hot Bronson Arroyo for the Reds.

METS CAN'T SEE RED
New York Mets lose the opener of their 3 game home series against the Cincinnati Reds 8-6 as Mike Pelfrey failed to show the world that he did deserve an All Star spot.
He actually crumbled under adversity of a bad call, but mentally he broke down and lost it.
Joey Votto on the other hand proved why he SHOULD be on the all Star team.
Votto crushed 2 home runs in the 1st and the 6th Inning. He's clearly on a tear to send a message to the league as he also seems to have the METS number.
Mets rallied in the fifth down 6 ignited by an Angel Pagan home run, but couldn't get closer than 7-6 at that point. REDS pen came in and closed the door with Smith, Rhodes and Cordero.
Pelfrey struggled and couldn't survive the 5th after giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, and a homer. Nieve wasn't any better, and the inconsistency of this team is becoming more and more evident.
Hopefully Santana's last outing was his turnaround as the Mets will need him for game 2 against hard luck Reds ace Harang (6-7).
Mets only choice is to live in the moment, shake off today and get em tomorrow.

NO BATS FOR SANTANA'S BACK
The Mets couldn't get behind Johan Santana's 1st strong showing in his last 5 outings.
Washington takes them in the bottom of the 9th 2-1 on Ryan Zimmerman's base hit off Pedro Feliciano. After losing 2 of 3 to the Marlins in Puerto Rico The Mets find themselves again struggling on the road, but last night by the Bats.
Good ol Livan "likes his money" Hernandez pitched one of his crazy gems only giving up and run off a 1st Inning hit by Ike Davis...and that's It!
It was a pitcher's duel and their stats are similar all the way.
Santana went 7 Innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 7 while Hernandez goes 7 giving up 7 hit and 1 run and striking out 7.
When the chips were lined Nationals capitalized and the Mets did not.
Bad timing for the Offense to go quiet. Mets must dig deep and a leader must emerge.
Who will step up?
Friday Mets will try and get things on track with a hot Niese Looking to take command for NY on this road trip. Atilano (6-4) will try to win the series for the Nationals.

METS BACK TO REALITY
Unfortunately the Mets have not gotten off to the desired start back into the National league after an amazing run against the American league.
They've now lost 2 in a row on the road and 6 straight in FLA. to the Marlins, but the pain most felt was for Tuesday losing 7-6 after working so hard to climb back in this one to tie it at 6. However Feliciano could not hold it in the 9th giving up the winning hit to Dan Uggla scoring Jorge Cantu.
First Dickey went down, and last night it was Takahashi who gave up 6 runs in 5 Innings pitched. He didn't get the loss but his 6-3 record has an ERA ballooning at 4.24
Mets just need to relax and get back to basics in approaching Weds game looking to avoid the sweep.
Good news is the Mets bats are still hot with Wright going 3 for 4.
Pelfrey is up next and looking for a huge victory setting things straight against the Marlins as they go with Volstad 4-7.
Just regrouping Mets fans. No panic.

METS SET TWINS
Based on the opening day forecast and all the trouble facing The New York Mets to start the season, This has certainly been an overachieving year so far.
NYM just finished off the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, winning the series and completing their best record of Interleague play since it's inception. The Mets have gone 13-5 against the American league, and also have the most shutouts to date(11) in all of MLB.
NY METS are hot! and if anyone hasn't noticed David Wright has been on a tear.
For the 1st time this season he has his batting average at .300 after going 3 for 4 and cracking his 14th home run of the season. Jeff Francuoer and Ike Davis also homered in this game, but David Wright is the team leader here, and The rest of his teammates should follow his pace.
Also with the Pitching, Jonathon Niese won his 4th straight extending his record to 5-2 as he shutout the Twins through 6 Innings giving up only 4 hits.
Dessens, Feliciano and Parnell finished it off to seal it for New York.
I want to give special mention to Mets rookie centerfielder Jesus Feliciano who filled in beautifully for the Injured Angel Pagan, going 3 for 5 with a double plus solid defense.
This Mets team is resilient fans! They find many different ways to win, and that's a key to big victories down the stretch.
Let's hope the Mets adjust back nicely to to the National league as they start on the road in Florida to play the Marlins.
Have no fear as R.A. Dickey is here, as he takes his 6-0 record down south to face Nolasco at 6-6.
Mets looking huge!
Posted on 27 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS DICKEY DOES IT AGAIN!
R.A. DICKEY. Please say it again R.A. DICKEY.
The reinvented Knuckleball pitcher has helped the Mets tremendously Improving his record to 6-0!! and he shut out the Detroit Tigers last night 5-0, giving up only 4 hits and striking out 4.
Mets are 9-2 over their 11 games against the American league and 21 of 28 overall, lifting their spirits to 11 games over .500 Some would say that's a surprise?
Jose Reyes continues to Impress with his power hitting his 6th home run of the season after going 3 for 4 on the day. Mets roughed up Bonderman sending him to his 5th loss of the season.
Mets magic comes from many different places and that's what makes em magic.
They'll look to continue on the journey and attempt to sweep yet another American League squad. galaragga 2-1 against the surprising Takahashi for New York at 6-2.
Mets in control.
Who's Huge.
Posted on 24 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS MASTER TIGERS
The Mets Pounded the Tigers and Justin Verlander on Tuesday at Citi Field 16-4!!
Wholly BAT attack! Interleague play has certainly been good to the Mets this season.
They exploded after a short rain delay with 8 runs in the 3rd.
Lightning must have struck to have ignited this fury with new york. A lot of people got in on the action too.
I'm telling you folks Angel Pagan has been the offensive MVP for the Mets so far this season. He has hit some major timely shots, and fell just a home run short of the cycle last night but carries the Mets going 4 for 6 with 4 RBI's. David wright was huge reaching base 5 times and going 3 for 3 with 2 Ribbies. Ike Davis has also been playing like rookie of the year going 3 for 6 with 3 RBI's.
Niese continues to shine for Mets staff that has clearly over achieved in almost every aspect.
Mets look to continue this path tomorrow with R.A. Dickey and his 5-0 record going against Detroits Bonderman at 4-3.

METS LULL With YANKS
The New York Mets got cooled down by the Yankees this weekend losing the last 2 of a 3 game series. Saturday it was frustrating watching Pelfrey lose, especially after he had a lead in the game and had been so sharp lately. He ran into an equally hot Phil Hughes and the Mets went down 5-3.
Sunday was supposed to be a day of 2 aces, but only the Yankees ace showed up.
NYM lost 4-0 and Johan Santana has really been struggling. Santana has lost 3 straight and given up at least 4 runs in each of those. He also gave up a grand slam to Mark Teixera, his 3rd allowed this season, tying a Mets record.
Santana needs to get back to basics with his mechanics and the team just needs to brush off this little 2 game losing streak, hoping not to tarnish an otherwise excellent road trip where they swept two series winning 7 in a row and 7 of 9 on the trip overall.
The Mets American league journey continues at home this week with the Tigers coming in today with the Inspiring Jonathon Niese (4-2) going up against Tigers strong arm Verlander (8-4)
Posted on 20 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS SWEEP FASHION
The METS continue on this fabulous road show. Before they were road weary, but this Interleague situation has worked out very nice for the Mets sweeping the O's and Indians and 7 in a row overall.
Mets won 6-4 as R.A Dickey improves to 5-0. What a recreation of a player who reinvented himself by developing the Knuckleball pitch.
mets are 8-1 against the American League this year, and now can really send the league into a frenzy if they can handle the Yankees for a weened series in the Bronx.
Huge challenge Mets fans.
Let's do it Mets!
Posted on 18 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS STREAKING
The NYM continue their recent road surge winning 5 straight including Wednesday night in Cleveland over the Indians 8-4. Mets bats continue to be hot, and Jonathon Niese continues to shine. Angel Pagan has been amazing for new york this season as evidence going 3-5 with 3 RBI's in this game, as the offense is really starting to gel.
Last night it all started in the 3rd when the Mets exploded for 5 runs off Talbot who barely escaped the 5th. Pagan, then david Wright , Davis and Bay all got in on that pounding.
In fact every Met player minus the pitchers got a hit. Mets never looked back as Niese cruised to his 4th victory.
Mets go for the sweep of the Indians with their ace in the whole R.A. Dickey 4-0 against Westbrook 5-4.
I like the rhythm the Mets are in right now. Let's keep it going!
Posted on 16 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS TRIBE ATTACK
The New York Mets keep it going on the road of all places and the American League beating the Indians 7-6.
Johan Santana despite pitching well, has gone 4 straight starts without a decision, got a win last night while still giving up 4 runs on 7 hits.
Bats came alive as Rookie Ike Davis continues to Impress going 2-4 and clobbering his 8th home run of the season. David Wright proving his franchise tag pumped had 3 hits.
Bullpen sporadic with Feliciano and Rodriguez almost blowing it giving up the late homer to pinch hitter Duncan.
Mets however are looking good. Santana got the huge win and Frankie saved his 14th game in 17 outings.
Today Niese will go for NY and try and capture the essence of his last sharp victory.
Talbot (7-4) who's got good numbers will try and cool off the streaking young pitcher for NYM.

METS SWEEP O's
The Mets swept the Baltimore Orioles in an inter league series down in Maryland this weekend. Ok I know what you're thinking? It's the Orioles... the worst team in the Major leagues! You know what though, the Mets did what they had to do, and took care of business beating a professional baseball club, and uplifting their road woes by finally winning a road series. Bottom line is Mets were hungry and my pick for All Star in the National league Mike Pelfrey once again delivers. It wasn't his sharpest game, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks, but the Offense provide with an 11-4 victory. He's 9-1 and headed on all cylinders in the right direction for the Mets.
For all those Fans who thought the Mets should trade David Wright because of his early season slump? Shame on you.... Wright hit 2 Huge homers, and totaled 4 RBI's.
Carter and Bay also connected on long balls and The Mets popped around Camden yards this weekend making it extra fun for all the fans who went down there for the weekend series.
Things looking good New York Mets.
NYM continue on this American league road trip going into tribe territory in Cleveland, where hopefully the cozy corners of an American league ballpark will spark Johan Santana for a big win tonight against Masterson for The Indians.
Go Mets!

REVERSAL OF ACES
The New York Mets split a day/night double header Thursday with the San Diego Padres.
With Johan Santana going in the morning, and Jonathan Niese going in the late game you would have thought that the clear advantage went to Santana. Of course it didn't turn out that way as Santana and the Mets offense struggled in game 1 losing 4-2.
Johan was off in this one giving up all 4 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks. He only struck out 1 batter..
So it clearly wasn't his day after blowing an early 2-0 lead behind a Henry Blanco 2 run homer. From that point on the Mets were shut down by fluid Padre starter Mat Latos (6-4)
He along with a solid bullpen core retire 22 Mets straight.
Santana's record slips to 4-3, but he just has not gotten the runs support and flow to feel completely comfortable.

Game 2 was a complete turnaround as NYM got the most incredible pitching performance of the year from Jonathon Niese. he tossed a 1 hit complete game shutout for the 1st time in his young career, also striking out 6 and walking none.
The 25th time in Mets history that's been done but of course never a no hitter.
That's of because most importantly Nieses is pitching well and building his confidence helping solidify the staff. After giving up an early double he retired 19 straight Padres to extend his record to 3-2.
Francouer delivered a hit in the 2nd that proved be enough run support for this one as Mets win 3-0.
Posted on 10 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
A DAVIS TO REMEMBER
The New York Mets continued their home dominance yesterday beating the hot San Diego Padres 2-1 in 11 Inning's off Ike Davis 1st career walk off home run, and the 3rd for the team this season. Davis has been huge with 7 homers already.
Reyes saved the offense in the 7th with a solo shot that tied the game at 1-1.
The main plug for this game goes to mike Pelfrey who although he didn't get the win, pitched 9 commanding Innings only giving up 1 first Inning run off a double to Adrian Gonzalez. But that was it. Shut down pitching from there striking out 6 and allowing only 5 hits. Pelfrey's all star form kept the Mets in this one so Ike could do his thing in Overtime.
Mets roll on into game 2 tomorrow night as sure ace Santana goes up against Latos (5-4) for the Padres.
Another big night for Pelfrey and Davis!
Posted on 09 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS WONDERFUL
The New York Mets had a wonderful weekend of winning. they swept the series and the Marlins 7-6 Sunday after trailing in the game 5-0 going to the bottom of the 6th.
Angel Pagan who's continued to stay hot got a big 2 run single in the 6th, and then scored the winning run in the 8th. Jeff Francouer came through with a huge 3 run homer in the 7th that tie the game.
Takahashi struggled starting again for the Mets giving up 5 runs on 2 homers.
Feliciano, who's been very consistent this year won it, while Frankie Rodriguez got it done and closed it out for NY.
David Wright's getting hot and the young nucleus that's been created is working on and off the field.
Mets looking for a little payback have San Diego coming in on Tuesday for a 3 game set.
With Interleague play against the Orioles coming up, the Mets have a shot for a great week of winning!
Posted on 07 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS A Steps Behind in San Diego
The Mets did not take their momentum with them to San Diego after scoring 10 runs off Milwaukee on Sunday. Instead the Mets gave up even more than that getting crushed in this 1st game of a 3 game set against the Padres 18-6!! That's right folks... A combination of Mets pitchers managed to give up the 18 runs against a team not know for their offensive prowess.
Correia got his 5th win while Takahashi suffered only his 2nd loss, but it was a big one.
He got pegged early giving up a grand slam to Jerry Hairston jr. while yielding 6 runs total on 8 hits in 4 Innings.
Then Raul Valdes stepped in and didn't do much better giving up 4 runs on 2 hits and walking in 2 with the Bases loaded.
Mets seemed to have some life getting back into this one with a hot Reyes tripling in the 5th scoring 2, and then Barajas banging in 2 runs off his 6th Inning Home Run.
However that was all the life the Mets had left in them after the Padres popped 6 more runs on NY in the bottom of the 6th off a completely ineffective Igarashi... who needs to go. This guy has been awful. I don't care about his potential, as all he seems to do is hurt his club.
So that's it... one to forget about. Tuesday's a new day, and the Mets will try and get back on track as NYM send their season's early savior Mike Pelfrey and his 7-1 record against Leblanc and his 2-3 record for the Padres.
Mets will hopefully settle down tomorrow night and take the favored win.
Posted on 01 Jun 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS NOT SWEPT
The New York Mets started this 3 game trip to Milwaukee off one of the greatest stretches of shut out baseball in Mets history. unfortunately all good things come to an end.
The Mets lost the first 2 games of the series but avoided being swept with a big win on Sunday 10-4 over the Brewers.
R.A. Dickey who pitched the 1st gem last week against the phillies was hanging tough in this one after giving up a few early runs. Then in the 6th tied 2-2 the Mets exploded with Castillo getting the huge 2 run hit followed by the Hotter Angel Pagan who crushed a 2 run homer off Jeff Suppan who replaced Wolf. Francouer and Blanco added to the onslaught of 16 hits for the Mets as they leave for San Diego on a high note. They also established Dickey as an effective veteran starter who can hopefully solidify the spot with consistent play. He did have some problems in this one giving up 2 home runs and allowing 9 hits, but hung tough for 7 Innings.
Now mets head to SOCAL to play The Padres for a 3 game set led first by surprising starter Takahashi( 4-1) going for his 5th win, against Correia for San Diego.
Mets momentum hopefully will overwhelm the Padres.

METS MUSCLE
The New York Mets have just won back to back shut out games over their fiercest rival the Philadelphia Phillies. They did it again with an unlikely source.
Tuesday night it was R.A. Dickey and last night it was Hisanori Takahashi who stifled the Phillie hitters in only his 2nd career start, on his way to a 5-0 Shut Out and an overall 4-1 record this season.
The Mets not only get the win, but also win the series against the one team they're gunning for this year.
Mets magical play continues with 4 straight wins and some clutch hitting.
Jose Reyes has been extremely hot hitting his 1st home run in over a year!
Also Rod Barajas continues to do the job when called upon driving in 3 runs including a powerful double that opened things up for NY.
Phils are slumping big time. Nothing from their big timers Howard, Victorino and Werth. Mets Bullpen cleaned up the night steadily contributing on all ends with Meija, Igarashi and then Nieve to finish it.
Mets go for the sweep tonight with an Impressive 6-1 record from Mike Pelfrey and his low 2.86 era. He'll go up against Cole Hammels who's 5-2 with a 3.92 era.
I like the intensity set in by New York. This team certainly has flirted with the magical touch which is what you need sometimes to win the close ones.
Mets feelin good!
Posted on 26 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
DICKEY DOES IT
Every now and then a team gets a gift. A surprise performance form an unlikely source.
Well the NYM got that tonight from R.A Dickey, who just got called up from AAA Buffalo to replace the headcase Oliver Perez. Dickey a 10 year veteran who has spent most of his career with the Texas Rangers was showing great humility this season working his way back to the major leagues, put his newly designed Knuckleball pitch to work, and it caught the Phillies dead in their tracks.
The Mets greatest rival the last several years are a team they must take down this season. These Games head to head against the Phils are huge for New York, and Tuesday night was a great start. Dickey shut out the Phillies 8-0 on 7 hits with a career high 7 strike outs!
The Mets offense was all over Grandpa Moyer....unloading for 13 hits total.
Reyes was hot with 3 hits and 3 runs scored, Francouer broke out of his slump with 2 hits, as well as the reliable Barajas who went 2 for 4 and scored a run.
Phillies looked lost against Dickey, and R.A. stood on the mound like a smart veteran and delivered effectively. He could be the Mets new secret weapon?
Let's hope it continues.
Mets will try to win the series tomorrow with Takahashi (3-1) going against Blanton (1-2) and try to ride that positive momentum to the win.
Either way big night for the NYM!
Posted on 25 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
Sabathia Docked by The BAY!
The New York Mets Not only won the weekend series against the Yankees, they responded to a great challenge and adversity by defeating their cross town superiors.
I guess it took for Jason Bay to feel more comfortable facing an American league pitcher to whack 2 HR's off Of CC Sabathia. Bay has been heating up batting over .300 now after hitting his 2nd & 3rd Long shots of the season.
Mets pounded and hung on Sunday night winning 6-4. Santana was brilliant going 7 2/3 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 5 strike outs.
C.C, really struggled, along with the entire Yankees squad that has now dropped 10 of the last 15 games saw their ace being chased in the 5th after giving up all 6 runs on 10 hits.
Ike Davis, Wright and Reyes all had key hits in big spots, but it was Cora's clutch 2 out hit that got it going for The Mets in the 2nd. Mets got it rolling after that.
They fooled around a bit with the lead in the 9th giving seldom used Igarashi a shot to end it, but he created a problem giving up 3 runs and making the game closer than it really was. Mets called on their "building of confidence lately" closer, Frankie Rodriguez to put out the lights of a late Yankee rally getting Arod out to end it.
Yanks struggles continue, but the Mets keep the magic alive....and probably Jerry Manuel's job for now.

Mets are feeling good now and will enjoy a well deserved day off before Phillies come in for an even huger series than the Yankees, in respects to that the Mets Must beat the Phils to feel any sense of true achievement here.
Mets should be able to continue their sharp hitting facing Grandpa Moyer on Tuesday, while NY will give R.A. Dickey his 1st starting shot.
Over all it was a good weekend Mets fans!
Posted on 23 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS EXPLOSION
The NYM exploded for 10 runs Thursday night in Washington.
They almost blew a 7 run lead but held on for the victory 10-7.
Frankie sealed the deal in the 9th after Feliciano put out the fires in the 8th.
Maine who started it off left in the 1st due to a right shoulder problem.
Problems were facing the Mets until Raul Valdes stepped in and pitched 5 strong innings for the victory, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, but also had 6 strike outs.
the offense bursted out starting with David Wrights 3 run double as he finished with 4 RBI's. Other hot bats were led by Bay 3-5, Reyes and Barajas 2-5 each with an RBI.
So the Mets come home with a little momentum to face their subway rival Yankees.
Yankees come in struggling big time losing 8 of 11.
Mets can take some pride with them if they can win this weekend series.
hopefully the Mets bats will be singing off Vasquez Friday night.
Go Mets!
Posted on 20 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS RESILIENT
The New York Mets came through with a big "get the monkey off my back" victory on Monday night against the Braves. Pelfrey was huge going 7 2/3 Innings and overcoming major adversity's in this game. Feliciano pitched out of a bases loaded 8th Inning jam, and Frankie sealed his 6th save.
Mets Offense coming from Barajas again who punched a big 2 run double in the 2nd, while Reyes ended up scoring the last run the Mets would need in the 6th.
Mets now can build on this with a golden opportunity take this quick 2 game set with Santana going to the mound Tuesday against rookie Kris Medlen (1-1)
Posted on 17 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS IDENTITY CHECK
The New York Mets have found themselves in a position that just 2 weeks ago, looked as if they would avoid. That being the big question of whether or not they should be sticking with what they have, and see what happens when Beltran comes back? Or make wholesale changes cutting with trades, releases and playing the kids?
I guess we shouldn't panic even though the Mets lost 10-8 Sunday to The Marlins, and lost a 4 game series for the 1st time in 2 years, and first time to the Marlins in 7 years.
It was a nice comeback effort with some sparks from a mix up in the lineup, and some pop by Wright, Bay and Reyes, but the bigger "pitcher" problems remain with a total bust in Ollie Perez, and now ineffective outing from Niese, Maine, and Pelfrey. And to add injury to insult, Niese cold go on the DL with another pulled Hamstring.
I mean that's it folks... that's what we have to deal with, and just hope these guys can turn it around quickly after falling under .500 to 18-20, and a pitiful 4-12 away from home.
Mets hoping the change of scenery in Atlanta will change their luck. Although we know how the Mets have struggled in Atlanta over the years, but the Braves have had their own problems and the Mets could catch them.
Pelfrey tries to establish himself as a front line pitcher tonight, against Derek Lowe and his 5-3 record, and high era of 5.73
GO METS....PLEASE!!!
Posted on 16 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
Up and Down Mets World
The New York Mets lost to the Marlins Thursday 2-1 on a wild pitch in the 9th inning by Fernando Nieve, scoring the runner Cody Ross from 3rd.
Big question mark to why Manuel didn't feel the need to bring Frankie Rodriguez in for this spot? Was it lack of trust, or that he was only planning to use him in a save situation?
He obviously thought Nieve could get the job done, but losing like that makes this one of those games you want to quickly forget about.
Quite a waste too because Johan Santana had a gem going through seven, giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 5 Strike Outs.
Josh Johnson pitched an equally impressive game also going 7 and giving up the 1 run.
So it was a pitcher's duel won on this day by Florida.
Today's matchup should produce some different offensive results, with Ollie going for NYM against Anibel Sanchez and his 1-2 record for the Marlins.
Hang in there Mets fans, there's always a learning curve with young talent and blending chemistry.
Posted on 13 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS Afternoon Mystery
the Mets got buzzed Wednesday by the surprising upstart Washington Nationals 6-4, assuring them the loss in this series. The Nationals got to the best of New York this week, and Frankie Rodriguez in the 9th. The Assassin was an unknown one and his name is Roger Bernadina. I'll say it again, Roger Bernadina. Because this outfielder just called up from Triple A April 29th hit his 1st 2 Major league Home runs in this game. None bigger than the one he crushed off Frankie to win it for Washington.
The Nationals are a hot consistent team right now winning 6 of their last 7 series played.
The Mets couldn't quite finish the battle yesterday offensively. Although Angel Pagan continues to play well going 2-4 with a double and and RBI.
Pelfrey failed to get things in line for a victory. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits, he did have 6 strike outs but walked 3. Not a great outing but the team was still in it to win it.
Marlins up next for three games in FLA. and NY is looking to take advantage starting with a tight pitching matchup today as Santana goes up against Johnson.
Johnson's only loss this season came against the Mets on Opening day.
Tomorrow's a new day and time to get back on track.
Posted on 13 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS MAGICAL 8TH
The New York Mets are continuing to play with that little bit of magic at home necessary to achieve success. On Tuesday night they got a whole bunch of that from all different sources as NY came from behind to beat the Washington Nationals 8-6.
The rooks are really coming through. Davis and Carter.... sounds like a law firm?
And these guys will hopefully be laying down the law in the future for the Mets.
Chris Carter just called up hit a huge double in the 8th to knock in the winning runs.
Bay, Barajas, Wright were all huge participants, along with Angel pagan who continues to Impress me.
Niese got roughed up in his start giving up all 6 runs, including a 1st Inning bomb by Adam Dunn. But the Mets pen came through holding things in check. Raul valdes pitched a scoreless 8th and got the win, and Frankie came in for his 5th and easiest save of the season.
So Mets can win this series tomorrow with Pelfrey taking the mound looking for his 5th win.
Posted on 11 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS TEST
The New York Mets gave a great effort today in their attempt to sweep the San Francisco Giants. On paper it was a mismatch in favor of the Giants with Cy Young Ace Tim Lincecum in town going against a mysterious Oliver Perez for NY.
Perez was horrible giving up 4 runs and 7 walks! in 3.5 Innings pitched.
Giants were cruising with a 4-0 lead till the 6th when the mets got to Lincecum with a couple of bloop hits and walks. He left with a 4-2 lead and then the Mets took advantage.
Angel Pagan continues to Impress daily, getting a key hit along with reyes, as they both scored in the 7th. David Wright's sac fly got the Mets their 1st lead 5-4, but Aaron Rowand changed all that with a crushing 2 run shot in the 8th to win it for the Giants. Erratic closer Wilson for San Fran struck out the side in the 9th.
A Mets loss but a good fight today. The team has confidence now, and the will to survive in the East.
Mets now have a chance to get healthy and win some games as the Nationals come in for a 3 game set.
Bret Maine gets it for NY on Monday going against Impressive young starter Luis Antilano and his 2-0 record for Washington.
Overall successful weekend for the NYM.
Posted on 09 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
BARAJAS CAN DO!
Rod Barajas has been huge for the Mets so far this season. He leads the team in Home Runs (9) and led the team with a 2 run walk off homer last night in the bottom of the 9th against the Hot San Francisco Giants winning 6-4.
Barajas hit 2 home runs in the game, his 3rd time doing that this season already!
he's been huge behind the plate, in the clubhouse, and with his bat.
He certainly makes you feel the Mets made the right move getting him vs signing the more noticeable Molina. Mets lucked out.
They also lucked out with their rookie sensation Ike Davis, who also hit 2 home runs in the game tonight, for the 1st time in his career.
Pelfrey pitched well, but again a no decision. Frankie Rodriguez actually got the win and he's 2-0, while Sergio Romo (no relation to tony) 0-3 got the loss.
Mets got the magic at home and will look to continue on with that today as Johan Santana goes for the redemption game against Wellemeyer for the Giants.
Barajas, Davis and the Mets huge last night!
Posted on 07 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS Not for Extras
The New York Mets are falling into a bad habit of losing extra Inning games sp far this season.
They are 1-4 in overtime this year, and their opponent the Reds are 4-0 in Extras.
last night it cost them a 5-4 loss. The Pitching staff seems to hold steady, but has unraveled in their last 2 giving up the long ball. Lat night it was Feliciano who gave up the big shot, the other night it was off Acosta. Mets need to correct this issue amongst it's staff to not give up the big one, because then it's game over.
As the Offensive struggles, fingers start pointing at the week spots. Certainly no one thought that Jason Bay would be mentioned in such conversations, but the high priced Mets outfielder has not been hitting. He's got 1 HR and 9 RBI's and struck out tonight in 2 key spots. Bay is obviously pressing, but needs to shake off this recent swing and focus on substantial production. All Mets Players need to wake up during crunch time, and let it loose to protect the pitching staff.
Niese did not have his best performance, allowing 4 runs on 12 hits + 2 Home Runs allowed in 6 Innings pitched.
Mets will rest a day, then send out Pelfrey for game 1 of a 3 game series with the Mighty Giants.
Mets hope to continue the success they had at home over the last stand.
All proper pieces in place, and with the right attitude Mets should make this a very competitive series with San Fran who are coming off a series win against Florida.
Till Friday Mets Fans...hang tough.
Posted on 05 May 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
BARAJAS Trims the Reds
The NYM and Rod Barajas got by the Reds last night in Ohio 5-4.
Bret maine continues to get stronger with every start, as he went 6 Innings and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits + 1 HR. He didn't get the win but lowers that era, and gives the Club confidence in their solid 3rd starter.
Barajas took the lead for the Mets in Home Runs with 7 as he won it in the big spot 9th Inning crunch time.
David Wright also hit a homer in this game... his 6th. I guess Barajas wasn't happy sharing the team lead with wright, so he clobbered his shot off Cordero to maintain his team lead. More Importantly it helped the Mets break their little 3 game losing streak, and propels them into a scenario to win the series in a day battle today as Niese tries to handle his business against Cueto for the Reds. Mets then go home to take on the Mighty Giants.
Nice bounce back for NY. Bottom line is the Pitching continues to Impress, and The offense is showing signs of maturity and the ability to overcome adversity.
Let's rally Mets fans for a huge win today!

METS Slip in the RED
Interesting how quickly a 3 game losing streak can happen?
The New York Mets just suffered one after losing an 11th Inning game to the Cincinnati Reds 3-2.
A great start by Oliver Perez only matched by the reds starting rookie star Leake.
Ollie went 6 Innings and gave up 6 hits but struck out 4.
They were deadlocked at 2 late when Lanyce Nix came off the bench to hit the hanging curve ball served up by Manny Acosta.
Mets need to come together tonight determined and focused on stopping this little losing streak, and remind everyone that this team can be resilient and come back quickly like they recently did on the homestand. Ike Davis continues to Impress, but others need to step and take a leadership role. Something nice in the BAY area would be good.
Maine is the man to get it on track for NY. However bronson Arroyo awaits the competition.
Mets reflect and will score on big red.

Bittersweet Mets Weekend
the Mets weekend before today wasn't looking disastrous, even after the 10-0 shellacking on Saturday by Phils ace Halladay, but what happened on Sunday was surprising and shocking to Mets fans. Never before has Johan Santana been put in a situation where he could even give up 10 runs in a game. Mets Manager Jerry Manuel decided to leave his ace in, and that proved quite costly, if not embarrassing. I mean sometimes you just don't have it, and need to get your guy out of their because it's just not his night, but Manuel left him in there...thinking he would turn it around all with 2 outs in the 4th Inning? He gave up 8 runs in that inning including 3 home runs.
Certainly a night for the Mets brass and Santana to forget fast.
So in 2 days the Mets 2 best pitchers who were producing low era's and positive statistics both melted down in back to back games. No redeeming value here except that the Mets did win game 1 of this 3 game series on friday, and did not get swept. Though they really did blow a golden opportunity with Moyer on the mound going against Santana?
That's a tough one to swallow, but no crying Mets fans, we live for another day heading into Cincy to get healthy against the Reds.
Ollie goes for his first win against rookie sensation for the Reds who is off to a nice 2-0 start Mike Leake.
Mets can do this and hope for better mental preparation in the future.

METS TEST
The New York Mets have had quite an interesting turnaround from the start of the season to now. They went from unproductive underachievers who couldn't hit, to the hottest team in baseball. One of the biggest concerns coming into the season was the Mets entire pitching staff. Understandably because they had an awful ending to last season, and a horrible spring training. However the worries that everyone had never came......at least up till now.
The NYM staff has been brilliant!
Coming off of the huge 10 game homestand where NY went 9-1, the critics were still skeptical that they hadn't defeated any good teams, and it would take wins against their #1 Nemesis the Philadelphia Phillies to prove everyone wrong.
Well the Mets did just that. They went into Philly last night and jumped on them early crushing them in a 9-1 victory.
Everyone got into the action. Rod Barajas the punchy catcher hit 2 home runs in the game for the 2nd time already this season. David Wright got it started with his 4th homer and Jeff Franceour also added a home run..
Franceour also displayed some incredible defense in the outfield, keeping the Mets defense in tact, and helping Starter Niese secure his 1st win, by running down some hard hit balls and making some dramatic catches.
Also Angel Pagan has been huge, as he went 3 for 5 with another big triple to help solidify the win for the Mets.
Now today they will face maybe the toughest pitcher they will see all season in Roy Halladay. Mets send to the mound their surprising star this season in Mike Pelfrey, who brings his 3-0 record, and .069 era to Philly and hopefully continue on his winning path.
This is so exciting Mets Fans!! Win today and NY takes it's 4th straight series.
Mets are huge and continue to roll.

HOW SWEEP IT IS!
The NYM swept the struggling LA Dodgers to go 9-1 on this awesome 10 game homestand.
Coming into it, there was so much pressure for the Mets to produce, that it turns out they would produce their best 10 game homestand in 13 years!
A lot of teams that are struggling lately "met" up with the Mets, and they obliged by putting out incredible pitching and timely hitting. The Mets are back, hot and in 1st place!
The Dodgers are not, losing 11 of 14 road games so far this season.
LA has big problems to solve with their relief pitching, and overall effort moving forward.
Brett Maine got his 1st win of the season for NY, pitching into the 7th Inning and lowering that ballooned earned run average down to 7.15
NY got balance hitting as 1 thru 7 reached with at least a base hit.
Angel Pagan hit a huge triple early in the 3rd scoring 2 to help the Mets jump out quickly.
Wright continues to work out his Issues and went 2 for 4.
The Mets now get a day of rest before the real big test comes when they face the Phillies in Pennsylvania on Friday. With this momentum no motivation should be necessary.
Mets are huge and the fans are happy!
Enjoy the day off!

METS Sweep DH Dodgers The WRIGHT WAY
The New York Mets are now officially the Hottest team in Baseball.
NYM are 8-1 on the homestand, as they win another series (3 in a row)and their Bats have come alive.
The Pitching has been stellar all year, outside of a few mishaps. but the team has responded to the pressure at home, and should be able to carry this momentum into today's finale with the Dodgers, and then out to Philly for 2 games.
The Phillies are the real tasty treat that the Mets want to take a big bite out of.
If there's one team the Mets want to focus on, and really give it everything they have as if it's game 7 of the World Series, it should be against Philly.
First things first as the Mets will try and completely sweep the Dodgers in today's day game.
Yesterday the Mets were smoking. First the day game with the Mets #1 ace Santana on the mound, he handcuffed the Dodgers winning 4-0 going 6 strong, striking out 6 and giving up 4 hits. Johan has Improved to 3-1 with 2.08 era. He's an anchor.
The pen again solid with Nieve doing the middle and Feliciano doing the closing.
As The hitting comes around Jason Bay finally hit his 1st HR as a NYM.
Davis, Wright also added hits.
Wright was huge in the 2nd game! More of a battle for Ollie, but David went 3 for 3 in the nightcap with 4 RBI's Ike Davis added 3 RBI's as well as NY cruised to the onslaught 10-5 win. These two guys had a huge day for NY.
Jason Bay seems to be getting into a groove, Reyes is getting his timing back ,and outside of Perez's 4th Inning meltdown, he pitched well, and the staff has been phenomenal as a team.
Amazing things going on, and hopefully ahead. true tests await, but we'll take the 6 in a row.
Big questions will swirl when Daniel Murphy comes off the DL... What to do about Davis?
I say you stick with Davis who sparked the club the minute he was called up.
Some people just have that 'thing" and Ike Davis seems to have it!
The energy or the chemistry around this kid has been infectious so far for the Mets.
So it's clear to me who the better player is, and that's Davis over Murphy.
NY should use Murphy in various roles...just adds depth to the team.
Either way Mets are back in it, and really moving for the first time in over a year.
Posted on 27 Apr 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS CAN DO
The NYM will take it...that is the rain shortened win against the Braves last night!
The Mets just swept the Atlanta Braves! Mike Pelfrey has not given up a run in 24 Innings!!
Who's huge? NY METS are huge! Winners of 6 out of 7 NY has continued to get amazing pitching. The win came last night prime time ESPN as Pelfrey and Hanson were pitching gems, but all the Mets needed was a 1st inning infield hit by Reyes, and a run scored on a Chipper Jones throwing error to finish off the sweep of the Braves. Not the way Atlanta thought this game would go down, but that's a hard luck rule in MLB, involving so many games, and the decision to call a game due to rain and give the victory to the leader after 5 full Innings.
So NY is 6-1 so far on the homestand and welcome the old originals. The franchise the Mets replaced when the Dodgers headed west in 1957. LA is coming to town. If the Mets can win this series they'll go out on the road with a winning record, and attitude.
Oliver Perez will take the mound and look for his first win this season.
The dodgers will counter with their best so far in Hiroki Kuroda 2-0 and pitching superbly so far.
So Be happy Mets fans! and enjoy the roses while they are blooming.

METS ON THE GROOVE
The METS are doing it folks!
They're doing what was necessary coming into this 10 game homestand.
So far so good as NYM are 4-1 on this stand coming into today's game with the Braves.
Ike Davis hit his 1st Major league HR. It was a towering 450 ft shot that made a statement to the team and all of Baseball that this kid is here to stay.
John Maine was going for his first win and was pitching well, until the 4th when he experienced pain in his non throwing elbow. The rest of the staff picked it up and helped lead the Mets to victory.
Takahashi got the victory, and Frankie got his 2nd save.
Wright and Bay seem primed for breaking out of their slumps.
Bay had a big triple and Wright knocked in two on a sac fly, and added a base hit to help seal it late.
Mets are quieting the critics and will look to continue on this great pace against the Braves again today.
Niese takes the mound against one of Atlanta's best Jurrjens.
Go NY Go NY Go!
Posted on 24 Apr 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS PERSEVERE
The New York Mets won their 1st series of the season overcoming an onslaught by the Cubs last night, to come back today and win 5-2.
Mets had their #1 guy on the mound in Johan Santana, and he delivered.
He gave up 1 run on 8 hits in six Innings pitched. He's now 2-1 to solidify his position as the stopper for NY.
David Wright continues to struggle but he did help break the scoreless tie with a double scoring Reyes... but he also struck out 3 times.
Ike Davis has been a bright spot going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
He's batting .400 and is playing solid defense. Krod finally got his 1st save!
So The Mets have now won their first series of the season and have won 3 of 4 games.
They need to carry this momentum into a much tougher series ahead with their true nemesis over the last 20 years, the Atlanta Braves.
Bret Maine has an opportunity here to right his wrongs and his huge era.
He'll go up against Kawasaki 0-2.

METSY MELT
The Mets staff finally melted down a bit late in the game last night against the cubs losing
9-3 in Flushing Meadows.
Carlos Silva has been the surprise best bet for the Cubs so far the is year pitching 6 strong Innings.
Oliver Perez and The Mets could not get it together last night, and suffered again when the offense was needed.
Today is the Mets best opportunity to win their first series of the season when they send Ace Johan Santana to the mound against Gorzelanny for the Cubs. Santana will look to get in the groove and set the tone early for NY. Hopefully the bats will follow suite.
its one game at a time Mets fans, and I know how huge it would be to finally win a series for this team and coaching staff.
Mets need it as the revamped Atlanta Braves come in next.

METROPOLITANS Too Much For a CUB
The Mets stay hot against the Cubs and can win their first series of the season with a victory tomorrow!
Hooray Mets! Maybe we're starting to get somewhere now?
What has been the biggest surprise is the outstanding pitching the Mets have received.
Mike Pelfrey is pitching the best ball of his career. He's absolutely huge for the Mets with a 3-0 record and a 0.86 era! outstanding numbers. Tonight he did it on a 3 hitter, and hasn't given up a run in 19 Innings!
Rodriguez still looks shakey as the closer but manged to get the save.
Mets offense has been right on time recently.
The Cubs are really struggling. Their team has not responded to the coaching style of Lou Pinella. Maybe Lou has seen his better days?
The Mets have no problem taking advantage of the mishaps. Chicago did come with their ace Zambrano, but the Mets would not be denied.
Reyes is quickly rounding into shape pushing his 1st triple of the season.
Tatis got things sealed up in the 8th with his 2 run pinch hit HR to extend the Mets lead.
Ike Davis cooled a bit in this game, but he seems to fit right in playing a solid 1st base.
The future is suddenly looking bright and should only get better.
Mets send Oliver Perez to the mound today against well traveled vet Carlos Silva, who's actually been a plus for the Cubs so far.
Will this Mets intensity keep up?
Keep on keepin on NYM.

METS SNUB CUBS
The New York Mets returned from their 1st road trip 2-4. The odd part of that number is, that it falls under the equation of the Mets being 4-8 overall and having lost all 4 of their opening series. They needed to come out last night against the Cubs fired up to start this ten game homestand off right. A huge stretch of games that could determine the fate of this coaching staff, and management if they don't at least go 6-4 over this home cooking.
Well they started beautifully last night, getting superb pitching from Jonathan Niese for
5 2/3rd Innings, and finally some timely hitting, and some timely callings. That by the way of calling up young Mets Phenom earlier than expected after sending Mike Jacobs away.
Ike Davis made a calm cool and collected MLB debut going 2-4 with an RBI.
His confident smooth style could be the young spark that the Mets need to turn this thing around.
Angel pagan broke through to break this little extra base hit slump by the team by wailing a 7th Inning 2 run shot to propel the Mets to victory.
Others like Jason Bay, Davis and Francoeur piled on and the lead ballooned for NY as they cruised to the 6-1 win.
A lot of positives going on in this game. Mets pitching has really been outstanding ...especially as of late. It's been the bats that were shut down, so now if NYM start hitting and the threat of great pitching continues, people in New York just might be saving their jobs, and Ny fans just might get some entertaining Baseball in certain parts of the Metropolitan area, and around the country this season.
Cubs have been a mess. They are slumping with the bats worse then the Mets.
NY needs to take advantage of that tonight, and Pelfrey is the man to do it.
Mets will get to Zambrano and get a little win streak on. Maybe just maybe the Davis kid can Inspire the team, and force others to consider how to pitch to him.
And don;t worry about David Wright people. He's still the cornerstone of the franchise.
Consider that he leads the league in walks should tell you something.
He needs a Big slugger around him to be able and see some pitches.
Keep the Faith Mets Fans.

Mets Marathon Win
It took more than 2 games in 1 for the New York Mets to finally win an adverse game this season. They prevailed in a marathon 20 Inning game over the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1.
The Mets last played The Cardinals in a game like this in 1975 when the Mets Lost in 25 Innings. Yesterday the Mets came through... but of course they almost blew it late.
Johan Santana did everything he could pitching seven strong Innings, giving up only 4 hits and striking out nine.
Jaime Garcia for St. Louis was equally as Impressive, pitching 7 and giving up only 1 run and five strike outs. Then it became a pitchers duel back n forth with little action until the 19th when the Mets finally broke through. Jose Reyes who was key in this game was able to score off a Jeff Francoeur sacrifice fly. You would have thought at that point of the game, with the Mets still having their closer Frankie Rodriguez available and now ready to seal the deal, he gives up a couple of hits and Yadier Molina tied the game in the bottom of the 19th.
I mean you would want to pull your hair out at this point!
However calmer heads prevailed and the Mets shook that off and came out aggressive in the top of the 20th. Pagan set the table with a hit, and Jacobs moved him over, leaving it for Reyes to get the huge sacrifice fly.
Mets brought in Pelfrey to get his 1st career save.
The Cardinals simply ran out of arms, and lost the game with the pitcher of record being an infielder by the name of Joe Mather. He's now 0-1.
The Mets are now again in a position to win a series this season. They have failed in their first 3 attempts.
Mets can go for it today... although everyone will be very tired.
Mets need a big game out of Maine tomorrow as he goes up against Wainwright.

METS GOVERNED BY NATIONALS
Unfortunately, so far the NY Mets have played as predicted.
Many fans just hoped that they would defy the critics...especially in the 2 home opening series of the season against The Marlins and Nationals, of which they lost both
2 games to 1. The shocking part about the Mets not being at least .500 after 6 games is they had had their Mega Million dollar ace on the mound Santana, going against one of the lower echelon teams in the league. It's actually at the point where the rest of the pitching staff is projected as so weak that you expect Johan to go out and win every game?
Well...he lost today to Washington 5-2 after giving it all up in the 1st on a grand slammy by Josh Willingham. Mets offense could not respond.
"Livan...Livan likes his money" Hernandez pitched one of his classics gems for the Nationals.
Hey....didn't the Mets have him on the roster a couple of times?
Why'd they ever let him go? Ace Veteran like that...... compared to what the Mets currently have?
Back to reality... Mets can only move forward. They need to shake off this 2-4 start. They got Reyes back, and when the guns are fully loaded, they'll hopefully be able to play to their potential, based on payroll, and projection.
Mets get right into the thick of an opening road trip heading out west to Colorado.
Maine will go against Rockie's new starter Greg Smith.
Go west Mets...and good luck!

METS ALIVE!
Way to go Mets!! That's how you answer the call to beat a team at home that you should beat. NY got everything they wanted, handling game #1 against the Washington Nationals last night winning 8-2.
Mike Pelfrey gave up only 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, as he excited to an offensive surge by the Mets. Rod Barajas has been a steady addition so far, and he along with Jeff Francoeur cracked 2 homers each last night for New york.
That's the most Home Runs the Mets have hit in a game at Citi Field since it opened.
Mets fans will gladly take it.
They got strong starting pitching, solid Relief , and the offensive spark necessary to stomp out certain clubs. This is the kind of "Living up to their potential" that Fans have wanted to see, and hope continues.
They go right back at it today with 'loopy" Oliver Perez going for NY, and John Lannan for Washington.
A sweep here would be nice, and the Mets could end the weekend 4-2....
how nice would that be?
Posted on 09 Apr 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS FAMILIAR
It seems that what I suspected at the end of training camp, is really coming true...that the Mets are looking very much like the team they finished off as last season.
The pitching has not be horrendous, just untimely, and the offense has just been non existent! Without Reyes, Beltran, and Murphy this teams has hit a dry spell city, despite a late rally in game #2.
They lost last night 3-1 and lost the opening 3 game series to the Marlins 2 games to 1.
Niese pitched well, but gave up 3 runs and took the defeat, as the offense completely failed the Mets, going 0-10 with runners in scoring position.
It's frustrating, but the Mets couldn't ask for an easier opponent to come in for the 2nd series, when they face the Nationals at home this weekend.
Pelfrey gets the start tonight, against Mock.
Crucial series for the Mets. They have to establish themselves this season and beat Washington in this spot, in this situation, so they can leave for their first road games above .500.
Posted on 08 Apr 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METSY EVEN
The New york Mets performed their 2nd game of the season like they usually do, with a loss. The Mets couldn't hold off the Marlins 2 days in a row losing 7-6 in extra Innings.
NYM rallied from 6-2 down in this game to tie it, only to see Takahashi give up the winning hit in the 10th, as Paulino knocked in Wes Helms.
There's was no more fight for the Mets last night after that, and there were a lot of mistakes made in this game. The biggest coming in the 7th with the bases loaded and David Wright at the plate....and he never got to swing the bat, as the 1st pitch from Pinto got away from the catcher John Baker, and Fernando Tatis who was on 3rd either missed judged the ball, or it was just an amazing play by Baker, but he got thrown out! So the bottom line was that Wright didn't get a chance to hit in that spot, and it's those little things that prevent you from Winning games in this league.
The Mets will get another chance to win this opening series today as Jonathan Niese goes against newly acquired Nate Robertson for Florida.
Posted on 08 Apr 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
METS FINALLY HOOK A BIG FISH
The New York Mets won their season opener at Citi Field in Flushing New York for 2010.
Then again The Mets always win on opening day?
The Mets have won 5 in a row and are the best team in MLB over the last 50 years on opening day!
More Importantly for today's reality NYM finally figured out how to beat Josh Johnson, who had gone 7-0 against the Mets lifetime, before facing them today.
David Wright started things off the way Mets fans were hoping for with a 2 run blast in the 2nd to kick start the offense. Met's blew a few Opps in ealry innings until they unloaded with 4 big runs in the 6th. The newcomers of Barajas, Matthews Jr. and Bay all had 2 hits, with Jason Bay delivering a huge triple on his way to a solid 2 for 4 start with his new club.
Strong Hold Johan Santana anchored the game pitching 6 Innings, giving up only 4 hits and 1 run.
Mets did what they do best and that was win on opening day.
Now they need to carry that wave into winning this 1st series of the season.
The team psyche needs it.
Bret Maine is the man in game #2 against Ricky Nolasco and his big right arm tomorrow against The Marlins. good start.....as usual.
Let's Go Metsy!!

OPENING DAY 2010
Opening day at Shea!!
I used to the love the sound of that as a kid growing up in New York, the voice of Ralph Kiner or Bob Murphy, and the way they would call it every year.
Well...times have changed and it's now Citi Field, but what hasn't seemed to change from the end of last season to this one, is the state of the Mets Team?
In any sport when you have a horrible year, you come back next year with optimism and a new beat about you, and your approach to the new season.
The Mets seem to have the same tone they finished off with in 09.
And if not having Reyes, Beltran, and Murphy on the injured list to start, as well as losing their last 3 pre season games really badly, including an 11-0 clunker to the Orioles Saturday is any indication of how things will be?...then it's going to be tough Met's fans!!
Oh believe me...I wish it were different!! I'm a huge Met's fan!
I'm just giving it to you straight how I see it. I'll remain Optimistic that the arrival of Jason Bay and Gary Matthews Jr. will spark the offense.
The pitching and defense...well? we do have Santana, and hopefully a strong Rodriguez in the bull pen, who says he won't wear down at the end....like he has the last 3 years for NY and LAA.
Mets get that big opening day game against an up and coming Marlins team that finished 2nd and 87-75 last year. They also have a unique combination in last season's Leagues batting Champ Hanley Ramirez, and the rookie of the year Chris Coghlan.
Mets need to ride on strong emotion and Intensity from the home crowd, and each player needs to dig deep and play to their greatest capabilities, and hold the fort till the team is completely healthy....and then we'll hope for the best.
Santana goes up against Josh Johnson and his Impressive 15-5 record last year.
Nolasco for the Marlins against Maine for the Mets on tuesday.
Let's go Mets 2010!!!

Mets Report
The Mets are off to a decent start at spring training so far.
However the same problems that plagued the team to end last season, seem to have carried over to this one.
All teams come in with the optimism that they can turn it around with a fresh start.
Mets fans have a tough time holding to that theory when they think about the recent Beltran injury, and now the news of the extended delays of Jose Reyes.
So you can see where the frustration builds.
Try to think positively Mets fans. The starting rotation doesn't look horrible the way it is right now, as long as these guys live up to their potential. The rest of the staff leaves a lot of questions to ponder?
Can this middle relief journeymen crew keep it together?
The likes of Kiko Calero, Elmer Dessens, Kelvim Escobar, R.A. Dickey, Josh Fogg, and Pat Misch. Doesn't sound like a championship crew, but they do come with some major league experience. Maybe a blend of that experience can be put together to assemble a solid crew for the Mets to go full season.
Offensively I think there's great talent here. Adding Reyes and Beltran at the right time could form this group into a playoff contender.
They just better not wait too long.

Spring has Sprung
Spring training and the grapefruit league are here for the New York Mets.
Many questions still remain about the state of the pitching staff, along with the progress of injured players Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes.
The Mets in pursuit this winter for free agents, missed opportunities to nab certain players they coveted, only to now settle for something else.
They just addressed their catcher needs by signing veteran Barajas out of Toronto.
Rod Barajas did whack 19 homers last year along with 71 RBI's for the Blue Jays, but hit a poor .226 overall.
The Mets are hoping he can show some leadership behind the plate, while adding that pop when needed.
Johan Santana the Mets #1 ace seems ready after a few tests on the mound.
His health and contributions will be key to anchoring this pitching staff towards any success this season.
Posted on 04 Mar 2010 by Gregg Marc Miller
Mets set for 2010?
The New York Mets have had some activity this off season, but unfortunately not in the categories most fans thought would be addressed.
They added excellent offense and leadership in Jason Bay, who signed out of Boston, and Gary matthews jr From LAA. He should help with some pop, and then some stop on defense.
Pitching is where the Mets have hit a wall. but what are their options now?
Pretty slim from the pickins left over now for this season. they failed to land a top pitching free agent, so questions will remain on the dice they will be rolling in spring training.
Other questions such as the anticipated return of Reyes, along with the recovery of Carlos Beltran.
So hang in there Mets fans.... I know it's difficult to sit easy right now, knowing that Elmer Dessens, Kelvim Escobar, and Josh Fogg are not going to solve any huge problems for the pitching situation to start the 2010 season. And the Mets have gone out and collected a bunch of scrappy vets to help fill some other holes...in the likes of Curtis Pride, and hometown boy Frank Catalanatto. So it should be an interesting mix come April. Maybe a little Mookie magic in the clubhouse will help?
